Science Uber Alles: A fragmented portrait, October 5, 2020

The Base:

*It’s a hoax. There’s no pandemic. As Trump said, how many millions die of flu?

*If he’s sick, then they planted it when they tested him. It’s what they did to me when I went to hospital for my heart beating too fast. Two weeks later I got a cold. It’s political. I don’t trust the US government at all. Who are they to mandate personal safety? I listen to Trump.

*I will vote for him again. I still think he’s better for the country. If Biden becomes president he will be under the control of the socialists….

The Critics

*I like presidents who weren’t infected.

*Now politicians are checking into hospitals as a ‘precaution.’ Healthcare should be a right, not a privilege.

*America’s government is teetering.

*Who can you believe? Now they’ve wrecked the credibility of the doctors. And the doctors have just fallen in line like medical bobbleheads.

The Marketing:

*HISTORIC MOMENTS IN HISTORY: PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP DEFEATS COVID WITH ICONS OF HIS ENTIRE FIRST TERM! LIMITED 2500, GIANNINI [MEMORIAL COIN] SERIES AS SEEN WORLDWIDE, EDGE NUMBERED EDITION, PRE-ORDER SHIPS NOV 14, 2020 $100.

*When designing the Trump Cooler, we set out to build quality coolers with an important message and an effective design. We have created stunning coolers that are loaded with features. In a time where patriotism is rare, we wanted to give people a real product with a message you can stand behind and represent everywhere you take our cooler. Was $299.99 Now only $199.99!

*Make America Great Again!

*Keep America Great Again!

The Republican Party and the WH staff:

*This is an evolving situation. We’re striving to be as transparent as we can for the American public.

*It’s a common medical practice that you want to convey confidence. We’re going to continue to be transparent and give you all the facts.

*No, COVID test results will not be released. There are privacy concerns we take very seriously safeguarding the information of the personnel here in the White House.

*President Trump followed all of the protocols. Everybody around him was tested. They kept distant and somehow he contracted it.

*There was a panic before this started, but now we’re sort of the stupid party. Candidates are being forced to defend themselves every day on whether they agree with this or that, in terms of what the president did on the virus.

*I will tell you there are members of the staff, career staffers, who are very upset about the fact that this outbreak has happened. They’re calling it the Rose Garden Massacre. It could have been prevented.

*People are still being allowed to roam around the complex saying [masks are] optional.

*We are fully functioning. We’re going to be working throughout.

*Trump has done more to derail the Barrett nomination than any Democrat. They are screwing themselves, that’s for sure.

*Today feels like the election is over.

The Joyride

*I don’t think this was a stunt at all. This was President Trump showing people he’s very gracious for the hospitality they have shown him, for the support he has, the hundreds outside Walter Reed Medical Center there.

*It’s the worst kind of reality TV stunt. This is not Ronald Reagan waving from the window to reassure the American people. This was Michael Jackson holding a baby over the balcony recklessly.

*He’s not even pretending to care now.

*This is insane.

*This is unbelievable.

*Where are the doctors?

The Doctors:

*He’s in exceptionally good spirits.

*At this time, the team and I are extremely happy with the progress the president has made. Thursday, he had a mild cough and some nasal congestion and fatigue, all of which are now resolving and improving at this time.

*He’s not on oxygen right now. That’s right….Right now, all indicators are that that he’ll remain off of oxygen going forward.

*The president was on oxygen.

*As with any illness, there are frequent ups and downs over the course.

*I was trying to reflect the upbeat attitude that the team, the president, the course of his illness has had. I didn’t want to give any information that might steer the course of the illness in another direction.
