CSI: American Carnage (Wednesday, July 1, 2020)
NEW YORK – The Times guy is slumped at his desk. Empty beer cans are scattered on the floor around him. He is staring at the Post guy on the computer — face down on his desk hundreds of miles away. The Post guy shows signs of life. He lifts his head. On the screen are two of Donald’s tweets from late the night before: Donald J. Trump@realDonaldTrump At the request of many great Americans who live in the Suburbs, and others, I am studying the AFFH housing regulation that is having a devastating impact on these once thriving Suburban areas. Corrupt Joe Biden wants to make them MUCH WORSE. Not fair to homeowners, I may END! And: Donald J. Trump@realDonaldTrump I will Veto the Defense Authorization Bill if the Elizabeth “Pocahontas” Warren (of all people!) Amendment, which will lead to the renaming (plus other bad things!) of Fort Bragg, Fort Robert E. Lee, and many other Military Bases from which we won Two World Wars, is in the Bill! The Times guy says, My God! The Post guy says, Yeah. Brazen. They popped up last night. Donald is tweeting that he promises to resegregate housing in the suburbs. No, more than that. All housing. Every neighborhood. Every house and apartment. Resegregate housing! He’s retreated back to his roots. And then he uses a racial slur and threatens to pull funding for the military over the racist names of bases. He will defund the army and the navy and the air force, not to mention the goddamn marines if the country ceases commemorating a racist defeated enemy and he will clear the way to re-impose that defeated enemy’s racist way of life on the entire country. Speechless. I am speechless. Not even Roger Ailes back from the dead can save him. The Times guy stares at the screen. He says, It’s like all those movies, so many, where the human face melts away, the flesh deliquesces and drains down away from the bone, like a wax candle, leaving the horrific skull beneath for all to see. It’s a real unmasking. He pauses. I think we’re at the skull stage of this presidency. – July 1, 20202
