CSI: American Carnage (Thursday, September 26, 2019)

NEW YORK – Late at the Carlyle, the Times guy and the Post guy hunch over a couple Jules Robin cognacs, the 1798 vintage not the lesser, thin 1845. The Times guy says, You called it at that presser. The Post guy says, It was easy, you have to admit. The Times guy says, Maybe I was a little slow. What was the tell? The Post guy says, First off in the summary of the phone call. He says, Talk to Rudy, respected, a good man. That made it clear: Rudy’s going under the bus. No question about that. Rudy’s a goner. But notice that he also says, Talk to the attorney general, he’ll call you, you talk to him and get to the bottom of it, whatever you can do. So I’d say Barr’s gonna join Rudy under the bus. The Times guy says, I hear you, but Donald needs Barr for protection. Who’s gonna do the knee capping if Barr’s under the bus? The Post guy says, Good point. He needs Barr. So maybe it’ll be Pompeo and the State Department under the bus. You know, Rudy says he’s not freelancing, he’s not working as consigliere. The State Department made him do it. He implies that the State Department believes the Russians had nothing to do with hacking and interfering. The Times guy says, That’s what Roger Stone is arguing in his criminal case. The judge has knocked all of that down. Looks like Rog’s in the soup with Manafort. The Post guy says, So after Rudy and Pompeo and State are under the bus, with Barr as road-kill-in-waiting, I think your best bet for the bus is Mike. The Times guy says, Interesting. Yeah, Mike has been talking up Ukraine with the Poles. The Post guy says, And don’t forget what Donald said at the presser. The Times guy says, I’ve forgotten his exact words. The Post guy says, Don’t worry, lemme find it on my fone. He scrolls through some videos. The Post guy says, Ah! Here it is. Check this out. He starts the video of Donald’s UN press conference. On the small screen, Donald says, Impeachment? For that? When you have a wonderful meeting, or you have a wonderful phone conversation? I think you should ask. We actually — you know, that was the second conversation. I think you should ask for the first conversation also. I can’t believe they haven’t, although I heard there’s a — there’s a rumor out they want the first conversation. It was beautiful. It was just a perfect conversation. But I think you should do that. I think you should do, and I think you should ask for VP Pence’s conversation because he had a couple conversations also. I can save you a lot of time. They’re all perfect. Nothing was mentioned of any import other than congratulations. But the word is that they’re going to ask for the first phone conversation. You can have it anytime you need it. And also Mike Pence’s conversations, which were, I think, one or two of them. They were perfect. They were all perfect. It’s very sad what the Democrats are doing to this country. They’re dividing. They’re belittling. They’re demeaning our country. So many leaders came up to me today and they said, “Sir, what you go through, no President has ever gone through. And it’s so bad for your country.” The Post guy shuts off the video. The Times guy says, Pence is going under the bus. You’re right. Donald just tossed him. The Post guy says, Yeah. And he’s tossing himself in right after. – Thursday, September 26, 2019
