CSI: American Carnage (Thursday, February 6, 2020)
SOMEWHERE – Little Timmy, pup reporter, and the Professor’s small strike force are making their way through a quiet back channel when the unmistakable screech of a tweet is heard bearing down with great, whirling speed. Take cover! Timmy yells as the tweet whines by and crashes against the far wall, rocking the entire back channel. Gee, Professor, we haven’t seen one of those in a while. What does it say? Sarah, Timmy’s friend from the resistance pot luck, comes out from behind the rock and walks over to the flattened tweet. She pokes it with her foot. Turn eet over, shouts Boris, genial triple agent. Sarah flips the tweet. She reads aloud: Donald J. Trump@realDonaldTrump Had failed presidential candidate @MittRomney devoted the same energy and anger to defeating a faltering Barack Obama as he sanctimoniously does to me, he could have won the election. Read the Transcripts! Timmy says, Look down the tunnel. Some pathetically scarred figures are creeping along the floor. They look like some weird shit, or pancakes or something. Sarah walks over to the figures which are whimpering and crying. Some bark in agony like dogs or worms. Sarah says, These look to be a collection of old Republican consciences. They are searching aimlessly for their souls. It is indeed a pathetic quest. The Autocrat seems to have triumphed over his enemies. But that is not good enough. The Autocrat does not know the meaning of enough. There is no such thing as too much. Whether it is wealth or revenge or cruelty, there are no limits. He taps into the great reservoirs of resentment, the reserves that the elites have been nurturing for years. The Autocrat knows how to use what the Romneys of the world have created, the divisions, the poverty, the racial divides, the insecurities, the apparatus of control, the means of confinement. There is nothing the Autocrat will not use to fuel his needs and his needs are endless, they can never be fulfilled. Women, people of color, poor people, foreigners, families. These provide the Autocrat with his fertile fields. He can never run out of energy. There is always one more woman to embarrass, one more black to exploit, one more immigrant to humiliate and crush. Timmy says, We’d better hurry and get back to Washington before it’s too late! Sarah says, It is already too late. Mohammed, Timmy’s friend, says, This cannot be the case. This cannot be true. We are here. We have the ability to act. Sarah says, Indeed. But who is directing the show and who is picking the cast? – Thursday, February 6, 2020
