CSI: American Carnage (Sunday, October 13, 2019)

WASHINGTON – Donald turns to Mikey seated next to him at the conference table off the Oval and says, Ok. What’s this Sondland gonna say? Are rain drops falling on his head like Sondheim’s? Because we can hang him out to dry. Right? Right? Donald looks around the table. Heads nod. Donald says, Right Steve? Steve nods. It’s an honor, he says. It’s always an honor. The people know it. We know it. Everyone knows it. Donald says, Wilbur? Wilbur puts his checkbook away and nods. He says, We shouldn’t forget his hotels can’t touch your hotels. They are disgraceful. More heads nod and yes sirs are murmured. Absolutely. Your perfect genes. Genius. Perfect genius. Perfect conversation. Donald says, No pressure. Stephen says, None. absolutely. Nonewhatsoever, and how could there be? You are here and the Ukraine is all the way on another continent full of bandits who smell and you don’t want to have anything to do with that. Mike looks on, tears in his eyes. Oh Sire, he says, your insights and thoughts are our guiding principles. Perfect President Trump Thought. Sire, there was no pressure. A clear reading of the transcript shows that there was no quid pro quo in the president’s call with President Zelenksy. The American people have read the transcript, Magnificence, they have watched the chairman of the committee manufacture a fake transcript and read it to the committee and then to the American people, who understand a fake transcript when it’s read to them and they are told it is fake. They know I never discussed the issue of the Bidens with President Zelensky as the transcript clearly shows. They understand that our internal discussions, such as now, internally, where you have reached out to our team and directed our contacts and my office with Ukraine, we were entirely focused on the broader issues of the lack of European support and corruption. Let me be very clear, Highness, the issue of aid and our efforts with regard to Ukraine were, from my experience, in no way connected to the very legitimate concern the American people have about corruption that took place, about things that happened in the 2016 election or about the very legitimate issue that former vice president Biden had his son on the board of a major energy company in Ukraine at a time that Vice President Biden was running the United States’ efforts in Ukraine to extract the concessions. I think the American people have a right to know what was going on. And, but all of our discussions, all of my discussions, with the leadership in Ukraine were entirely focused on President Trump’s priority of doing nothing wrong. And let me just say, Sire, and this is critical, the Sondland hotel man, is…  Donald interrupts. He says, Not too bright, okay? Agree? I’m talking to Joey and some other associates. Mike says, Sondland is going to tell the committee that it was a quid pro quo, but not a corrupt one. Donald says, Okay. Okay. Maybe we can work with that. Get on it. We are not corrupt. They’re corrupt. This is what we’ve been saying. This is what we have said all along. Alright? Heads nod around the table. Yes. Yes. Donald says, A noncorrupt quid pro quo is a quid pro quo the American people understand. Heads nod and murmurs fall about the table, like falling leaves as they head toward the end of the season. – Sunday, October 13, 2019.
