CSI: American Carnage (Sunday, April 14, 2019)
EL PASO – The Times guy and the Post guy have made it out of Calexico all the way to the Happy Monk Bar & Restaurant in El Paso, where they are downing some rabbit tacos and considering their next move. The Times guy says, They’re really going after Omar, all of them are. They’re like those beetle things in The Mummy. You see that? These swarms of scarab beetles come to life and just sweep over you, eating all your flesh, okay, and when they’re done in a sec, there’s only bone left. He takes a bite of his taco. The Post guy says, Please, do you mind? I’m trying to eat some rabbit here. He takes a bite, chews thoughtfully and says, Doocer and Killer got the ball rolling. Remember, Killer wondered if Omar believes in America first. The Times guy says, Well, actually, I think it was Ronna McDaniel at the RNC who got the ball rolling. The Post guy says, Yeah. I got it here on the Twitter. I think this was where it started, right here, Ronna tweeted that nearly 3,000 Americans lost their lives to Islamic terrorists on 9/11, yet Omar diminishes it as: “Some people did something.” When Ilhan Omar isn’t being anti-Semitic, she’s sympathizing with Islamic terrorists. The Times guy says, Doocer and the crew picked it up and then Donald’s watching teevee and sees it and Rupe sticks it on the front page of the Post and Donald tweets out the video of the Trade Center burning spliced with Ilhan saying “some people did something,” “some people did something,” “some people did something” — like a mantra . The Post guy scrolls through the twitter. Yeah, he says, This is pretty awful. Listen to some of these: I can’t wait for the day they come for you… Omar, is a disgusting vile woman who needs to be removed immediately! … A real death threat never comes w/a warning … It’s time someone removes Ilhan Omar … I think she should shut her stupid buck toothed mouth forever… The Times guy shakes his head. What can you say about this shit? The Post guy takes another bite of rabbit and says, Hey, Beto’s on teevee from South Carolina. The Times guy turns and watches. Beto has a good size crowd sitting in a restaurant listening. He describes Donald’s tweet. The crowd gasps. The Post guy says, I guess there are a lot of people who aren’t on the twitter. He turns back to the teevee. Beto says, This is an incitement to violence against Congresswoman Omar, against our fellow Americans who happen to be Muslim.This is part and parcel of what we’ve seen from an administration that has described Mexican immigrants as rapists and criminals. There is a cost and a consequence to this kind of rhetoric. Hate crimes in this country are up every single year of the last three years. The Times guy says, Hey, Isn’t that Gilligan’s Seafood Restaurant in Ladson? The Post guy says , Sure is. The Times guy finishes off his rabbit taco. He says, Great mahi mahi tacos. The Post guy says, Yeah. Beto knows his restaurants. The Times guy says, But you know. He named names. The Post guy says, And he framed it as a threat to all Muslims. The Times guy says, And that Low Country crowd, they responded. The Post guy says, Yeah. But we haven’t heard the last of this. It’s going to get as ugly as you can imagine.
