NEW YORK – The Times guy, deep in conversation with the Post guy at the Subway Inn, drops his voice and says, in a whisper, Rudy called. The Post guy, puts his head down closer to the Times guy. What’d he say? he asks. The Times guy says, He starts out talking about Charles. He says, Charles would have a hard time with a fraud case ’cause he didn’t do any due diligence. The Post guy says, Hmmm. The Times guy continues, Then Rudy says, Let’s get back to business. I gotta get you to get on Bahrain. The Post guy says, Okay. The the Times guy says, Then Rudy wonders if Robert is around. The Post guy says, He’s in Turkey. Yeah, says the Times guy. The problem is… The Post guy chimes in, We need some money. Yeah, says the Times guy. The Post guy says, A few hundred thousand. Yeah, says the Times guy. How’d you know? The Post guy says, I got the same call. The Times guy says, No way. The Post guy says, Yep. Hey, he says, there’s the Politico gal. She’s quite the news hen. He waves. She comes over. The Politico gal says, Hey you guys. Why aren’t you at the Carlyle? The Times guy says, We like this place! How are you doing? Want a Brooklyn Lager? The Politico gal says, Sure. Listen up guys. They bend over. She says, Guess what. They say, What. She says, I got a call from Rudy. The Times guy says, No way. She says, Sure did. The Post guy says, Does he need some money? She says, Yeah, a few hundred thousand. The Times guy says, Hmmm. The Post guy says, Hey, there’s Rich from NBC. Hey, Rich, come on over. Rich comes over. The Times guy says, Did you get it? Rich says, Get what? The Times guy says, The call from Rudy.
