CSI: American Carnage (Friday, May 29, 2020)

NEW YORK – The Times guy takes a big gulp from his beer and leans into his screen. The Post guy does the same and says, You know, I gotta tell ya, I miss the Pierre, the music, the chatter, Bobby, all of it. He sighs. The Times guy says, I know what you mean. He takes another swig and shouts, Honey, another beer here, please. I’m on deadline. A voice sails in from the kitchen, In a minute. The Times guy turns back to his screen. He says, Jack’s really putting the screws to Donald. They’ve flagged and masked him on Twitter. Tweets glorifying violence are apparently a no no. The Post guy says, A social-media paradox – by hiding him, they expose him. It was a pretty in your face tweet, though, I gotta say, ….These THUGS are dishonoring the memory of George Floyd, and I won’t let that happen. Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him that the Military is with him all the way. Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts. Thank you! The Times guy says, The thank you is a nice touch. Not sure what it means. Now that George Floyd is dead, Donald’s gonna stand up for him. The Post guy says, Meanwhile, people demonstrating in Louisville are being gunned down and CNN got busted on the air by state police in Minneapolis. You see that? The Times guy says, I saw. You know, the ’64 Harlem riots began when the cops shot a kid in the street. He was 15 years old. Shot him dead. The Post guy says, You go back. The Times guy says, Yeah, I go back. I remember those riots. They were more rebellions, actually. People had finally had it with the  endless poverty, police killings and ridiculous arrests, and beatings. Finally they’d get around to charging the cops with something, usually assault, and then would come the acquittals. In LA, remember, the city enforced incredibly rigid laws banning black people from owning or renting property outside of specific areas. Completely illegal. Who gave a shit? Only black people. It was the job of the cops to keep them quiet while the city elites fed at the trough 24/7. Dozens of people died in the Watts riots. The black community was destroyed. The professional police force, supposedly the greatest in the nation, beat black citizens routinely. Newark the same. Detroit. One after another, these massive spasms of violence exposing the major fault line in American life. Then, nothing. For decades.  It’s the job of the cops to make sure the elites are not interrupted during feeding time. That’s what angers Donald. The cops fucked up. The Post guy says, Yeah. Times sure have changed. – Friday, May 29, 2020
