WASHINGTON – Omerta. Let’s play Hardball. Good evening. I’m Chris Matthews. On a day when the coal mines are grinding down in northeastern Pennsylvania, my country, coal country, Joe Biden country, and Joe understands the hard-working people there, the people who came to this country, worked like crazy, raised their kids, the kids who also worked like crazy, never took a dime, never asked for anything from the big government guys in Washington, kept their heads down, their noses, and their ears – Biden’s people, and the kind of people my dear friend the late Bobby Kennedy embraced, he embraced them, and they embraced him, it was love, it was mutual love, not like this guy, he doesn’t embrace, he grabs them by the you know what, you know what I’m saying? Just grabs them. Let me bring in our panel here. Michael, what’s with this guy? He’s wandering around the White House like Nixon’s ghost, Nixon was nasty, but, you know, he knew the rules, but this guy doesn’t know anything, and now these tapes with his goons strong arming Mike Flynn, trying to make sure he doesn’t talk to the feds – these are the feds! And the president sends his muscle in to try and shut up his own national security advisor! What is wrong with these people? Your thoughts. Michael says, Well, Chris, that’s exactly right, the president’s attorneys and some people in congress, Republicans in congress, were, apparently, strong-arming and… Chris says, You know Bobby dealt with the mob. He knew the mob. He knew Jimmy Hoffa. Tried like hell to get him. He thought the mob took down his beloved brother. When Jack fell, victim of an assassin’s bullet, god rest his soul, Bobby told my close friend and old colleague Ed Guthman, loved Ed, great newspaperman, went on to join the Philadelphia Inquirer, a great newspaper, one of the greatest, publishing out of my old home town, Bobby said to Ed, I thought they’d get one of us, but I thought it would be me. It wasn’t, it was his brother, and now this guy, he’s gone beyond the nod and the wink stuff, he’s telling his people to make sure Flynn keeps his mouth shut, which is what they seem to be doing with Manafort, but Flynn, he had already gone over to Mueller, he was already there! Michael, what do you make of this? Michael says, Chris, the president… Chris says, And now we’ve got this lunacy! We’ve got the grifters and the con artists, the fraudsters. We got this crazy guy who already lied his country into war with Iraq, that’s what Bolton did, let’s be honest here, he lied, and people died, and now he wants a war in Iran. Iran! This is a serious country! They’ve got people and thousands of years, and now Bolton hires Judith Miller as his spokeswoman! These people are nuts! They don’t know what they’re doing!
