CSI: American Carnage (Friday, March 27, 2020)
WASHINGTON – The grinding sound grows louder as the massive, putrescent mold continues to expand within the Executive Lounge. It is contained, for the moment, by polycarbonate sheeting. Donald, in the recliner, says, Don’t worry about that, Stevie. Very strong, bullet-proof plastic. Take a look at this from Sean. Donald picks up the remote. He says, We are bringing a little sanity back. Donald punches the remote and Sean appears on the screen, listening to Donald on the phone. Donald says on the teevee, When you talk about ventilators, that’s sort of like buying a car. It’s very expensive. It’s a very intricate piece of equipment. The good ones are very, very expensive. And these people are talking like we can come up with them tomorrow, when everybody’s laid off and despite its being their job, their job, Sean, to get their own ventilators. That is what America is all about, which is to go back to work, and all they talk about is these ventilators, which they want us to just give to them. We’re not talking about 30,000 veg-o-matics, you know, Sean, which would maybe be useful, how many veg-o-matics at Mount Sinai, Sean? Not many people know the answer to that, so let’s just say there is a shortage there, and all they talk about is the ventilator, when I have a, I know two people, okay, two people who got it, and they aren’t that sick, so I have a feeling that a lot of the numbers that are being said in some areas are just bigger than they’re going to be. I don’t believe you need 40,000 or 30,000 ventilators. You know, you go into major hospitals sometimes they’ll have two ventilators, and now all of a sudden they’re saying, Can we order 30,000 ventilators. Where did that come from? Andrew, who had a great father, who was also governor and a friend of mine, great guy, and Inslee is another one that’s a lot of trouble, and the woman from Michigan, she’s not stepping up. I don’t know if she knows what’s going on. All she does is sit there and blame the federal government. She doesn’t even know where she is. So I think that a lot of things are being said that are more — I don’t think that certain things will materialize. A lot of equipment’s being asked for that I don’t think they’ll need. Now, there is a silver lining, if you want to call it that, or several silvers, where there is some good that comes out of the possibly bad, and I know everybody thinks that if it sweeps over certain districts and takes out a lot of the misinformed and the morons who misinform them, I’m going to be praising that. No Sean, I am not that kind of person, Donald Trump does not dance on the grave of every son-of-a-bitch in the country. He does not, though they’ll blame Trump for that. No Sean, you make all these ventilators like we’re doing now, with the businesses building and the workers putting the stuff together, that is what we want, as the disease spreads, I have a feeling we’re going to need more and more people on the lines making the ventilators and the masks, just like they did back in history when gravediggers saw a very strong increase in employment. Look, Sean, many say, very many say it’s a bad situation. We haven’t seen anything like it. But the end result is we have to get back to work and I think we can start by opening up certain parts of the country. We’ve got the shovels and the land. And if we can do this by Easter, what a powerful symbol for those people digging. – Friday, March 27, 2020
