CSI: American Carnage (Thursday, January 17, 2019)

The Dark Ones have taken up a semi-permanent residence in the Chamber of Consternation located in the western spur of the vast central plains complex. The elder brother is slumped in a lounge chair where he has been viewing feeds from the eastern sector for several days. The younger is pacing back and forth in front of a half dozen screens showing scenes from the West Wing. He pauses and turns to his brother. My brother, what say you to the possibility that the gambler showman’s antics may begin to seriously affect the markets? That would not be tolerable. The elder brother rouses himself from deep contemplation. He says, The price of crude has bottomed, my brother, and it is heading north. The Chinese emperor is exploring options to extract himself from this ridiculous trade war. The British are almost completely at our mercy now that they have no plan to guide their departure from the European Union. The eastern despot is amusing himself with bogus spy tales and re-annexing the Balkans. Viewed from the perspective of utter chaos, things are looking up. The younger brother says, Yes, what you say is true, my brother, all true. Yet it feels as though the gambler showman is spinning out of control. I am gravely concerned by his stubborn refusal to reopen our operations, which they call the government. The elder pauses and sips from a tall glass of cold green tea. He says, Yes, my brother. I share your concerns, to an extent. But do not forget, Father taught us that what is produced by our enterprises belongs to us. Any drain on our resources amounts to theft. Our patrimony and our production are one. By continuing this so-called government and its largely pointless operations, the gambler showman is gradually familiarizing the soft servi with their ancient birthright — much work and no pay. They must work for nothing. This is the ideal. Consider, we have not even dared to dream of such a gift, yet the gambler showman has induced it in a matter of two years. There is some talent on display in that. All that production, all those systems in place – all continues on because the servi feel some need for regularity and constancy. Some call it responsibility. We depend on such illusions and so does the gambler showman. He is, I may say, a master illusionist. And he will need to be to gain all he wishes to gain. Whereas we are here and simply collect our birthright. The younger brother says, You have a gift, my brother, for looking on the bright side.
