CSI: American Carnage (Thursday, June 20, 2019)
BENEATH THE NM DESERT – Little Timmy, pup reporter, has passed out deep in the moist tunnels of The Cyber. Debris dislodged by an onslaught of presidential tweets is scattered on the ground around him and dust sifts from the ceiling. A small rivulet of degrading insults has opened up to the north and the sludgy wastewater stains the tunnel before disappearing down a rancid hole. Timmy opens his eyes and sees Sarah, his friend from the resistance potluck, bending over him. She is deeply concerned. Other members of the small strike force stand behind her, their concern equaling hers. Sarah says, Timmy, Timmy! Thank goodness! We thought we’d lost you. What happened? Timmy shakes his head and says, I’m not sure. I was reading the transcript, you know. The Professor interjects and says, That was brave, very brave. There are not many who would give so much for their country. Timmy says, Yeah, well, I just forced myself. I was reading and I’d gotten to the part where he’s talking about how calling the FBI is ridiculous when a foreign government only wants to pass along stolen dirt on a political opponent. And he’s talking about his son, his young son, a great young man, who didn’t even get anything out of the meeting, and he might go to jail. But it’s Hillary Clinton who should be in jail. And he says, I have information on Hillary Clinton. She’s the one who should be in jail. She deleted 33,000 emails from, sent by the United States Congress. They gave a subpoena to Hillary Clinton for 33,000 emails. After the subpoena was gotten, she deleted them. That’s called obstruction. And her lawyer should also be looked at because her lawyer, she’s got to have the greatest lawyer on earth because she does that, he did the deleting supposedly, not only did they delete, but they acid washed them. And the teevee guy says all that’s being investigated, and the president says, Now that’s called the–no, no. No, no. It’s being investigated I assume now. And the teevee guy says, It’s been investigated. And the president says, I don’t know, I stay uninvolved. I stay totally uninvolved. Timmy stops and looks at Sarah. He says, And that’s when the bright spots appeared and my head filled with cotton and the next thing I knew, I was looking at you Sarah, and you Professor, and Boris and Mohammed. I let you down. Timmy slumps back against a boulder. Sarah says, This is how the autocrat works. He creates his own shadow world, a world of silhouettes and puppets and stagecraft. He projects his own images on scrims and our stage is transformed in unimaginable ways. He writes his own script to which we must respond. And we think about his deeds and his potential deeds. What could come next? What will he do? We think hard. We seek to anticipate until the autocrat fills our entire head, all of our heads, with mush and gauze, and our bodies become immensely heavy and shut down. This is what happened, Timmy, we are deeply sorry. Timmy says, Is there really a Hillary Clinton? Does she really exist? The president says, Hillary Clinton conspired with Russia. She had somebody that came out of Russia. They got information from Russia. Excuse me. Hillary Clinton was totally involved with it. That’s the one. Timmy stops. He pauses. He says, Hillary Clinton, she is a powerful magician, because in the president’s mind, she is him. He has created his own creator. And now he draws strength from what he projects on her. Sarah says, Lay back. Lay back. You must rest. The autocrat has many mirrors at his fingertips. — Thursday, June 20, 2019
