CSI: American Carnage (Saturday, March 23, 2019)
CALEXICO, Calif. — The Times guy and the Post guy are drinking some Buds in Las Chabelas while the band sets up and one or two regulars wander in off Imperial Avenue. The teevee has been going for hours. The Times guy says, No more indictments. The Post guy says, Can you believe that? The desk says they want me to stay here. They don’t need me back in DC. The Times guy says, Same. They sit. The band continues to plug in. The Times guy says, Want another Bud? The Post guy says, No. After a moment, the Times guy says, You know, something doesn’t smell right about this Mueller thing. So many loose ends. So many people walking. The Post guy says, Donald for one. The Times guy says, Hold on, before you even get to him. What about Junior? The Post guy says, Jared. The Times guy says, Eric Prince and the Seychelles meeting. The Post guy says, Oleg Deripaska. The Times guy says, Unfair. He’s a Russian. We’re talking Americans. Carter Page. Corsi. Ivanka. And why such cushy handling of Flynn if you’re not gonna go after other big fish, or bigger ones? The Post guy says, What about Alfa Bank and the Trump server? Pinging back and forth, back and forth. What’s going on there? The Times guy says, What about Manafort and Kilimnick in the cigar bar with the polling data? What’s with that? Weismann said that meeting was at the heart of Mueller’s investigation. So is the heart of his investigation that we got nothing? They sit. The Times guy says, You know, Mueller is a Republican. The Post guy says, I don’t even want to go there. The Times guy says, You know, I’ve got an old friend at the Inquirer in Philadelphia who did a lot of reporting on the FBI in the wake of 9/11. The Post guy says, Yeah. I know him. Great guy, very thorough. Funny, smart. Very kind. The Times guy says, Yeah, that’s him. You read his book about what happened with Muslims and you get a different idea about Mueller. The Post guy says, Yeah. But you know, these guys do what they think they have to do. It’s beyond politics. It’s government. It’s control. When push comes to shove, they’ll side with the power elite every time. Heck They are the power elite. — Saturday, March 23, 2019
